The Ayacucho Quechua of Peru

The Ayacucho Quechua of Peru, numbering about 900,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Chanka-descended people of Peru's Ayacucho region, absorbed into the Inca Empire after resisting conquest in the 1400s, later home to the colonial city of Huamanga and, from 1980, the birthplace of the Shining Path insurgency.

They are an indigenous people in the Quechua people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Ayacucho Quechua.
