The Banawa of Brazil
The Banawa of Brazil, numbering about 90 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are an Arawan people who call themselves Kitiya, living along the Banawa River between the Jurua and Purus in Amazonas, whose ancestral land was invaded during the 19th-century rubber boom before Brazil recognized their territory in the 1990s.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism, and they primarily speak Jamamadí.
