The Apinaje of Brazil, numbering about 2,400 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are the only Western Timbira people, a Ge nation living west of Brazil's Tocantins River, who resisted Portuguese expeditions in 1740 and 1774 after decades of Jesuit contact, their lands later divided by the Belem-Brasilia and Trans-Amazonian highways.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Apinayé.
