The Akurio of Suriname
The Akurio of Suriname, numbering about 70 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a nomadic hunter-gatherer people of Suriname's interior, isolated until missionary contact in 1969 led to settlement at Pelelu Tepu, after which nearly half died within two years and the group gradually adopted the Trio language.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Trió.
