The Mambwe-Lungu of Tanzania
The Mambwe-Lungu of Tanzania, numbering about 600,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are closely related Mambwe and Lungu peoples of the Lake Tanganyika shores in Tanzania and Zambia, tracing Lungu origins to the Luba-Kola Kingdom of Angola, whose chiefs signed 1889 treaties with the British after enduring repeated Bemba raids.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Central-South people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism, and they primarily speak Mambwe-Lungu.
