The Gweno of Tanzania
The Gweno of Tanzania, numbering about 4,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a mixed-ancestry people of Tanzania's North Pare Mountains descended from Taita, Voi, Chaga, and Southern Pare settlers, whose Ugweno state, expanded by the ruling Suya clan, sat on a historic trade route linking the interior to the Indian Ocean coast.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Central-East people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Gweno.
