The Pelende of the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Pelende of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, numbering about 18,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a people originally of the Atlantic coast between Angola's Cuanza River and the ocean, who migrated into Congo's Kwango region around 1620 under pressure from the expanding Lunda Kingdom, settling alongside the neighboring Yaka, Suku, and Mbala.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Central-South people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Roman Catholicism, and they primarily speak Pelende.
