The Brong of Côte d’Ivoire
The Brong of Côte d’Ivoire, numbering about 272,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are an Akan people whose name derives from Abono woo, meaning pioneer of the land after their ancestors emerged from the sacred cave of Amowi, forming the first Akan state by the 12th century and later founding the Gyaaman kingdom in the late 1400s.
They are an indigenous people in the Guinean people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Abron.
