The Baule of Côte d’Ivoire

The Baule of Côte d’Ivoire, numbering about 4,390,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are an Akan people of eastern Cote d'Ivoire descended from Ashanti nobles fleeing an 18th-century succession crisis in Ghana under Queen Abla Pokou, whose sacrifice of her infant son to cross the Comoe River gave the group its name, meaning the child has died.

They are an indigenous people in the Guinean people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Baoulé.
