The Kota of the Republic of the Congo
The Kota of the Republic of the Congo, numbering about 19,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Bakota people who migrated from southern Cameroon through Gabon into Congo, whose 18th-century ancestor cult preserved clan founders' bones in baskets guarded by carved mbulu ngulu figures, a practice that died out by 1940.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Central-Congo people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Kota (Gabon).
