The Eastern Teke of the Republic of the Congo

The Eastern Teke of the Republic of the Congo, numbering about 75,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Bantu people of the Republic of Congo whose ancestors founded the 17th-century Bateke Kingdom, rival to the Kongo Kingdom, whose king, the Makoko, signed an 1880 treaty with de Brazza opening the Congo River's Stanley Pool to French colonization.

They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Northwest people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Ibali Teke.
