The Gbanziri of the Republic of the Congo

The Gbanziri of the Republic of the Congo, numbering about 8,200 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a riverine Ubangi people known as skilled canoemen and fishermen who signed an 1890 treaty of protection with France, with communities spanning Central African Republic and Congo and strong representation in the Central African civil service and police.

They are an indigenous people in the Pygmy people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Gbanziri.
