The Erenga of Sudan
The Erenga of Sudan, numbering about 13,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Darfur pastoralist people organized into clans including the Shali, Awra, and Girga, whose Dar Erenga homeland was a resistance stronghold during an 1888 uprising against the Mahdist State, and was again targeted in the 2023 Ardamata massacre.
They are an indigenous people in the Ouaddai-Fur people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Assangori.
