The Baxa of Chad
The Baxa of Chad, numbering about 3,800 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Maban-speaking Baxa, or Fala, dialect community of Chad's Ouaddai Region, one of four related Karanga-language groups descending from the Maba peoples who overthrew the Christian Tunjur dynasty in the early 17th century to found the Islamic Wadai Empire.
They are an indigenous people in the Ouaddai-Fur people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Roman Catholicism, and they primarily speak Karanga.
