The Bagirmi Fula of Chad
The Bagirmi Fula of Chad, numbering about 107,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Fulani branch historically tied to the 16th-century Sultanate of Bagirmi south of Lake Chad, whose Islamic religious role in the kingdom grew alongside tribute owed to its Barma rulers, today combining farming with semi-sedentary herding.
They are an indigenous people in the Fulani / Fulbe people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Islam, and they primarily speak Bagirmi Fulfulde.
