The Vaturanga of the Solomon Islands
The Vaturanga of the Solomon Islands, numbering about 3,900 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a West Guadalcanal people whose Vaturanga dialect of Ghari became widely used in mission and liturgical translation, part of a shared kastom culture with the neighboring Nggae, Ngeri, and Tambulivu since regular outside contact began around 1800.
They are an indigenous people in the Solomons people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Roman Catholicism, and they primarily speak Ghari.
