They are an Indigenous Pacific Island people of Nauru descended from Micronesian communities with Melanesian and Polynesian influences, whose identity is rooted in a historic matrilineal society organized around the island's traditional tribes.
They are an indigenous people in the Micronesian people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Nauru.
