The Popei of China
The Popei of China, numbering about 6,800 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Central Yi people of northern Yunnan whose distinct Popei identity and language have persisted despite official inclusion within the broader Yi nationality and centuries of assimilation with neighboring groups.
They are an indigenous people in the Other Tibeto-Burmese people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism, and they primarily speak Lolopo.
